Monthly Executive Golf Competition:  Jim Thompson and Beth Disque will host the executive golf. Each couple who signs up will be assigned playing partners, given a course to play, and informed about the “game”, usually a 4 person scramble. The foursome choses a mutually agreeable date and time to play sometime during the month and reports their score to the hosts after completion of the round. The courses and instructions will be listed on the website at the link below under the appropriate month. To determine where you will be playing click here:  LINK. The first page has the players by month listed. Those who have paid will be playing that month. MONTHLY YOLO FUN Golf-9 Hole Country Club No Stress Golf. Al and Dori Palmer invite YOLO members to participate in a monthly golf game on the THIRD Thursday of each month, starting on July 17th. This is a fun 4-person scramble skins game with men playing from the green tees and women playing from the friendly tees. You will be paired with different players each month depending on how many participate. Each player pays their own greens fees and contributes $2 pp for skins the evening of play. July-October play will be in on country club courses in the evenings between 5-6 PM. November-May will be on executive courses. YOU MUST SIGN UP ON THE SIGN UP SHEET BELOW BY THE THIRD SUNDAY OF THE MONTH. AL WILL EMAIL THE PARTICIPANTS WHICH COURSE THREE DAYS OUT.  SIGN UP SHEET Additional rules-women and men after age 80 may tee up the ball anywhere except traps. Bogey is the maximum score on any hole. Teams will congregate after the round to settle up skins. Participants may meet after for drinks or food. Singles or couples may sign up. Three players will play with a “ghost” rotating shots.

September 12th. Belle Glade. Janet & Tom Emerson, Chris & Tom Wiseman, and Deb & Dale Cherry will be hosting a Fun Nine and Dine Championship Golf Scramble at Belle Glade. During a Fun Scramble the Men will tee off from the Green Tees and the Women from the Yellow (Friendly Tees). We will be playing 9 holes of golf on one of the courses with tee times starting either at 4:15 or5:00. After nine holes, everyone will be congregating at the Belle Glade restaurant for dinner, drinks, and the awards ceremony. Non-golfing guests will be welcome at the dinner. Sign up is limited to the first 40 golfers. A sub/waiting list will be created. Golfers can enter as a couple, foursome or as a single. Singles and couples will be paired up. Every golfer needs to sign up. Golfers are encouraged to stay for dinner and mingle. Golfers are responsible for their own dinner and drinks. The starting time will be determined by the number of players. If we get 28 or more players, we will have a shotgun start around 5 PM. If we get less players, tee offs will start at 4:15. Entry fee will be $5 per golfer ($4 goes to the scramble event and $1 to Closest to the Pin contests). Everyone will also be responsible for their Greens Fee of $11.50 (for Resident Members) and a cart fee of $8.00 if you need a cart. The $5 will be collected prior to playing golf that day. The group will be playing a Scramble and is open to all skill levels – in a Scramble, every player hits a tee shot. The best shot is chosen, and players hit from that spot (Club Length allowed on fairway and Club Head on Green). Play is continued in that format until the ball is in the hole. EACH PLAYER MUST HIT ATLEAST ONE (1) DRIVE and no more than 3 drives per player. Each player can use 1MULLIGAN per round. The score is a TEAM SCORE. At least half of the teams will be awarded cash prizes. There will also be one Closest to the Pin contest for both men and women on a Par 3 hole. An email will be sent out ahead of time with a list of teams and their tee times. We ask that everyone arrives at least 30 minutes before their designated tee time. In the event or chance of rain, an email will be sent out by 3:00, indicating whether the event is still on or will be cancelled. If the golf is cancelled, we will still plan to meet for dinner later that afternoon. The first person listed for each foursome will collect $5.00 from each player and be the designated scorekeeper. They will also be responsible for delivering the entry fees and scorecard to our hosts. Awards will be presented at dinner. Please sign up and get ready for some fall Nine & Dine fun! September 27th-The Villages Theater Company Shows to Go and Dinner. 6-9 PM-La Hacienda Rec Center. Exciting News!! Chef Tim, who is an amazing chef has agreed to cater our event on Sept 27th!! We will be having a dinner to remember! We will have a Baby Pear and Gorgonzola Salad, Chicken Marsala, Pork Cacciatore, Au Gratin Potatoes, Italian Mixed Vegetables, Oreo Chocolate Mousse-Strawberry Shooters and Rolls and Butter. December 6th-You are invited to join Linda and Joe Leighton and Jean Anton to the YOLO Holiday Scavenger Hunt on Saturday afternoon, December 6.  (Rain date Dec.7). How it works:  We’ll start promptly at 3 pm from the Barnes and Noble parking lot in Lake Sumter Landing; look for the balloons. Please bring your phone to take pictures and a pencil to record your finds. A clipboard would be helpful too. You’ll get a list of items to find and then off you’ll go to take a photo to prove you found each one.  Prizes will be awarded for finding the most items in the quickest amount of time.  All travel will be by golf cart; 2 people per cart.  The hunt will end at Jean Anton’s villa,588 Arteaga Way in Haciendas of Mission Hills where we’ll have sandwiches, chips, dessert and awarding of prizes.  Please BYOB and 2 lawn chairs.   The cost is just $21 per cart.  The hunt is limited to 25 carts. Sign Up Here Holiday decorated carts are encouraged!  Questions? April 25th-Due to many YOLO members participating in the cruise, we are going to reschedule this YOLO date for another date in April. We will obtain a date sometime in October or November. 

April 14-29, 2026: YOLO Transatlantic Cruise (Bus on 4/13/26) Norwegian VIVA-New Ship. This is a 15 night repositioning cruise to Spain with stops in Portugal, the Balearic Islands, Italy and France. The ship goes out of Miami and disembarks in Barcelona Spain. ​W​e will be taking a bus from The Villages to Miami. The bus is $85 per person to be paid separately.  To sign up click on the Cruises Only Website below. Please note the Group ID #186568. This webpage will allow us to book a room (your room # will be on your deposit receipt that will be emailed to you about a day later), pay for the cruise, and choose insurance or not. Please also sign up below on the YOLO sign up sheet so we know you are booking the cruise, wish to take the bus or not, and your preferences.  For those of you who do a lot of traveling, you might want to consider purchasing year long insurance. This insurance covers you for any travel over 100 miles from your home. We have travel insurance through Allianz. Fortunately we have never needed to use it so we can’t testify to how good it is. For two of us for the year it was about $1,000. Itinerary: April 13th-Bus to Miami ($85)-Pick ups in Spanish Springs and Brownwood; April 14th-Departure-Miami; April 15th-20th At Sea; April 21st-Punta Delgada Azores, Portugal 7AM-2:30 PM; April 22nd-At Sea; April 23rd-Lisbon, Portugal-10:30 AM-5 PM; April 24th-At Sea; April 25th-Palma De Mallorca, Balearic Islands; April 26th-At Sea; April 27th-Livorno (Florence and Pisa) Italy; April 28th-Villefranche-Sur-Mer (Nice) France; April 29th-Arrival-Barcelona, Spain; April 30th- Barcelona Spain; April 1st-Fly to London; April 2nd-Direct flight home to Orlando. Many of us will be staying two extra nights in Barcelona, Spain. We plan to hire a bus to pick us up at the cruise port, take us to the various tourist attractions for two days, take us to a hotel and then drive us to the airport. This will be a separate cost -anticipated to be under $100 pp. Getting Home: ​W​e will be taking a flight, probably on Vueling Airlines from Barcelona to London Gatwick Airport on April 1st. On April 2nd, we will be flying out of Gatwick airport on Norse Atlantic Airways (2 PM-Arrival 6:25 PM in Orlando). ​The bus will pick us up at the airport and drop people off at Brownwood and Spanish Springs. The weather should be in the 60’s to 70’s during this trip (except for Miami). There is one pickleball court on the ship plus a race track for go carts (really fun) and multiple water and dry slides. We will work on getting rooms for us to meet on sea days, perhaps a group excursion for a discount, dining together, transportation together, etc. Linda and John Mason.
